Description
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Sr. Storage Engineer to join our team that coordinates and participates in the design, planning, installing configuring, testing, documenting, and technical support for storage systems including SAN, NAS, storage fabrics, de-duplication technologies, tape and backup platforms, DR replication, etc. This position will need to apply their leadership skills to researching emerging technologies, planning installations and upgrades, evaluating performance metrics, and mentoring others in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex storage hardware and software problems.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, install, configure, operate, and administer storage systems in production data center environments.
  • Promote system reliability and efficiency by creating and implementing system standards and operational best-practices.
  • Provide technical leadership in design and administration of global storage systems.
  • Plan, facilitate, and participate in upgrades and service activities.
  • Document system operations processes, procedures and configurations.
  • Communicate issues clearly to business and technical groups within the company.
  • Enforce operational storage system security guidelines and procedures.
  • Instrument, analyze, and publish storage system capacity, performance and availability metrics.
  • Stay abreast of modern storage technology and be familiar with various storage tools and methodology.

Requirements
  • Ten-plus years current experience supporting storage systems in mission-critical production data center environments globally.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the relationship storage systems have with associated business processes.
  • Significant experience architecting and implementing storage systems in multiple locations globally.
  • Expert knowledge of storage systems management tools and software.
  • Advanced experience with storage system troubleshooting and resolution of very complex storage system problems.
  • Experience with storage system performance engineering and capacity planning activities.
  • Experience architecting, evaluating and recommending new storage system technologies without direct supervision.
  • Participate in department-level planning and strategy development processes.
  • Provide Tier 3 and 4 support on all production and pre-production storage system environments, directing the activities of junior personnel and coordinating with vendors when necessary.
  • Ability to plan, document, and manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines effectively with a minimum of supervision.
  • Willingness and desire to provide senior guidance and mentoring to other engineers.
  • Possess excellent analytical and organizational skills as well as oral and written skills.
  • Ability to provide specific examples of past experience as detailed above.

Other
  • Minimum of a BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required.
  • SNIA accreditations preferred
