Senior Network & Security Engineer (USA)

Description
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Network and Security Engineer to become a member of our internal team that designs, plans, implements, supports, and troubleshoots the NewBay network and security infrastructure. This position encompasses optimizing network availability, security, functionality, performance, and capacity. The more senior members of the team apply their leadership skills to plan major system installations and mentor others in diagnosing and resolving complex hardware, security, software, and other network issues.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, build, configure, install, and operate the networking & security infrastructure in a production datacenter environment.
- Design, configure, and maintain a global network services implementation.
- Promote system reliability and efficiency by creating and implementing network and security standards and operational best-practices.
- Develop, design, and perform regular internal and external security audits, penex, and related security scans and monitors; and associated implementation of security tools and automation.
- Provide technical leadership in design and administration decisions for networking & security systems.
- Facilitate the planning of component and feature upgrades, and plan and participate in scheduled off-hours service and equipment upgrades.
- Perform and document system operations processes and procedures including the installation and testing of network upgrades, failover, and configuration.
- Enforce policy, strategic, and operational network security guidelines and procedures.
- Communicate issues clearly to business and technical groups within the company.
- Stay abreast of contemporary network & security technology and be familiar with various network tools and methodology.
Requirements
- Eight plus years current experience implementing and supporting networks in mission-critical, Linux based, production data center environments globally
- Eight plus years experience configuring and troubleshooting with more than two versions of Cisco IOS operating system or experience with two or more different network operating systems and equipment (for example, Cisco IOS / Juniper Junos).
- Significant experience with architecting, deploying and supporting local and wide area networks in multiple locations globally.
- Working knowledge of router and switch technology in a large production environment.
- Minimum of eight years experience with Layer4-7 Load Balancers, such as Cisco Local Director/CSS, F5 BigIP, or equivalent technology.
- Eight plus years experience in enterprise-level networking with knowledge in TCP/IP, Routing Protocols (OSPF/BGP/IBGP, etc), and SNMP.
- Advanced experience with firewall, VPN, and proxy technology, design, deployment, and support.
- Expert level knowledge of security and related tools such as Cisco MARS and ASA/IDS, Tripwire, Nessus, etc.
- Expert level knowledge of network and data center design, implementation; including power, HVAC, and physical space.
- Expert knowledge of OSI layers 1-5 and associated equipment.
- Expert knowledge of Internet protocols and operation.
- Expert knowledge of Telco circuits management such as ISDN, DS-1, DS-3, Point to Point and Frame Relay, IP Transit, etc.
- Expert knowledge of network management tools, software, and sniffers.
- Advanced experience with network performance analysis and troubleshooting and resolution of complex routing problems using common network tools, protocol analyzers.
- Firm grasp of user-level Linux (RHEL).
- Experience in architecting, implementing and supporting new technologies and understanding the associated business implications
- Experience in VoIP
- Ability to provide Tier 3 & 4 on call support on all production and pre-production networks driving problem resolution to Vendor development groups, if necessary.
- Ability to plan, document and manage multiple IT projects and deadlines effectively with minimum supervision.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills as well as oral and written communication skills
- Willingness and desire to provide guidance and mentoring to other engineers.
- Ability to provide specific examples of past experience as detailed above.
Other
- Minimum of a BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required
- CISSP, CISA, or related / similar security accreditations and educational background is required.
- CCIE, CCNA or related / similar network accreditations required.
