Prior to his role at Baltimore Technologies, Paddy was co-founder and CEO of East Coast Software, a private software company specializing in PC utility software. He is a frequent speaker on technology, e-commerce, e-business and the software industry in general and has written numerous articles for national and international publications. Paddy has testified to the Irish Parliament on e-commerce policy and issues and has also testified to a US congressional sub-committee regarding encryption policies. Paddy is also a non-executive director of Propylon Ltd, Web Reservations International Ltd (hostelworld.com) and Cicero Networks. Paddy received a first-class honours degree in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. Barry MaloneyPartner, Benchmark Europe Prior to joining Benchmark, Barry spent five years as CEO of Esat Digifone, Ireland's second GSM mobile operator. Under Barry's leadership, Esat Digifone expanded to a profitable company with 900 employees, more than 1 million customers and IR£400 million in revenues. Esat Digifone was acquired by British Telecom at a market value of IR£2 billion and is now part of the O2 Group. Before Esat Digifone, Barry spent two years at Xerox Corporation in Palo Alto, California, where as Vice President first of Business Development and then of Channel Operations, he was instrumental in revolutionizing the Xerox approach to global marketing. Before this Barry enjoyed a pan-European career at Digital Equipment as European Pricing Manager, Director of Software Business Europe and Vice President of the Component and Peripheral Business Unit Europe. Barry continues his involvement with O2 Ireland in the role of non-executive Chairman. Simon is currently on the Board of Directors of Asset Control, BridgeCo, Curam, JR Technologies, Neverfail, Qumas and Seatwave. Prior to joining Fidelity in 1999, Simon was Chief Financial Officer and General Manager, International of TheStreet.com, (NASDAQ: TSCM) a leading financial news website. In this role he managed two rounds of venture fundraising, a strategic investment and the IPO process; was responsible for the company's IT infrastructure; and set up its international operations. He spent over seven years at Reuters in various finance, IT and general management positions and, in 1995, established and ran Reuters.com. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Price Waterhouse in London. Simon represents Fidelity Ventures as a committee member for the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Associate (BVCA), the industry body for the UK private equity and venture capital industry. Simon holds an MA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Wadham College Oxford. Mark OpzoomerFormer Managing Director, Yahoo! Europe Since July 2001, Mark Opzoomer was European managing director & regional vice-president of Yahoo!. Prior to joining Yahoo!, from 1994 through 1999, Mark Opzoomer was deputy chief executive of Hodder Headline plc, an international consumer and educational book publishing company listed on the London Stock Exchange. From 1988 through 1993, Mark Opzoomer served in various positions with the Virgin Group, including commercial director of Virgin Communications. In 1991, Virgin Mastertronic Group was sold to Sega Enterprises, where Mark Opzoomer was commercial and finance director until 1994. Mark Opzoomer holds an MBA from IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland, and earned a Bachelor of Commerce, Honors, from Queen's University, Ontario, Canada. Mark Opzoomer also completed in 1995 the London and Wharton Business Schools Directors Forum, a program for public company directors. Mark Opzoomer qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC (Coopers & Lybrand) in 1981, where he spent seven years in audit and then business investigation services. Paul McKeonCEO, Propylon Paul Mc Keon is Chief Executive Officer of Propylon Ltd. Paul is responsible for Propylon's strategic leadership and for handling consultancy work relating to the specialist eGovernment field. He has acted as a senior consultant to the Irish government on a number of ground-breaking XML projects. Paul is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. |
