V CAST Media Manager and the HTC Rezound, a match made in the cloud

Something amazing happened along the way through the assembly line for this little gem of a handset – the HTC Rezound.  Sure, it’s the first with the Beats by Dr. Dre™ application for playing sweet sounding tunes and has an 8mp camera capable of shooting video at 30 frames per second and 1080p HD resolution but it also has an entire personal digital content cloud service running through its DNA designed to take advantage of this multimedia goodness.

HTC, in conjunction with Verizon Wireless, utilized the NewBay LifeCache Connect APIs to develop a leading integrated digital content cloud experience native to the device and accessable to many of the applications running on it.   Now, on the Rezound and other similar devices there is no need to download standalone applications like Dropbox or Sugarsync to backup and access personal digital
content.  V CAST Media Manager now takes care of all this in the background.  Take the example below for native backup:

Here you simply setup Media Manager to back up all the personal content from your device and it handles the what (digital content), when (time of day) and how (network selection).  All those videos and photos you shoot are now automatically backed up to a secure personal cloud.  To discontinue backing up your content or selectively choose the content you want to backup it’s as simple as going into the options and deselecting the content you prefer not to have backedup.

But this just isn’t about backing up content.  Your Gallery now goes beyond simply what is on the device.  It’s everything you want to keep in your personal content cloud.  Upload your content from any device (example, your home PC) and you can access or manage the entire collection as if it were stored right on the Rezound:

Don’t forget that growing music collection either.  Through the native music application on the phone you now have access to your music stored locally and in the cloud:

Not sure about you, but when I heard the phrase “It Just Works” coined by other personal cloud services THIS is what I had in mind.  Not another 3rd party application dug out of the Market.  To learn more about this experience on the HTC Rezound, check out our video or visit V

    HTC Rezound

Any way to turn the v cast media manager sync off? All my accounts allow me to turn off except v cast media manager. I do not want to use this service yet I can’t turn it off. Killed 40% of my battery last night trying to sync and back-up. Received two warning this morning that I was 80% full storage. I do not want any of my data in the cloud! How do I get whatever data this application uploaded (WITHOUT MY PERMISSION) deleted? Where is it stored and how do I get to it?

Why would this be on by default? Why isn’t there an option to turn off completely (Iknow I can uncheck certain media, but no “off” option)?

Agreed. I want to turn this off!! It serves no purpose for my applications. Also, I keep getting a “Upload” arrow that I can’t get rid off. Inability to remove or disable these unnecessary functions takes this phone down to the Apple iOS level. Dislike.

I would like to know how to remove my personal data from your cloud. I noticed this app I did not install uploading my files without my permission. I never want to use this and I would like it off of my device, that I purchased. Where is the opt out? This invasion is very disturbing.
